The MMD Group welcomes MEP Tomislav Sokol (EPP, Croatia)
2 March 2022
MEP Tomislav Sokol (EPP, Croatia) is a member of the Committee on Public Health (SANT), the Committee on the Internal Market and consumer Protection (IMCO), the Delegation to the EU-Türkiye Joint Parliamentary Committee (D-TR) and the Delegation to the EU-Serbia Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee (D-RS). He is also a substitute member of the Committee on the Environment, Climate and Food Safety (ENVI), the Committee on Constitutional Affairs (AFCO) and the Delegation to the EU-Montenegro Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee (D-ME).
Before being elected to the European Parliament, MEP Sokol became was a member of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) while studying. He was an Assistant Minister in the Croatian Ministry of Science and Education, after which he became a member of the Croatian Parliament in September 2017 until July 2019.
One of MEP Sokol’s core priorities is ensuring equitable access to innovative health technologies and medicines across the European Union. Despite significant advances in diabetes treatment and digital health tools, access to essential medicines, devices, and care remains uneven across Member States, contributing to disparities in health outcomes. Strengthening access to affordable, high-quality medicines and technologies is essential to improving diabetes prevention, management, and quality of life. Ensuring uninterrupted, equitable, and timely access to treatment and innovation is a key priority to reduce complications, support effective disease management, and address unmet medical needs across Europe.
We wish to thank MEP Sokol for his support and look forward to working closely together to advance equitable access to diabetes technologies and medicines, while strengthening innovation and improving health outcomes across Europe.
