The MMD Group welcomes MEP Pascal Arimont (EPP, Belgium)

2 March 2022

MEP Pascal Arimont (EPP, Belgium) serves as a member of the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL), the Committee on the Environment, Climate and Food Safety (ENVI), and the Committee on Regional Development (REGI). He is also a member of the Delegation for relations with the United States (D-US).

Before being elected to the European Parliament, MEP Arimont served as a parliamentary assistant in the European Parliament from 1998 to 2002. He was also an advisor to the province of Liège from 2006 to 2009, then a member of the Parliament of the German-speaking Community of Belgium from 2009 to 2014. MEP Arimont has been a Member of the European Parliament since 2014.

One of MEP Arimont’s key priorities is promoting sport and physical activity as essential tools in preventing and managing diabetes. Regular physical activity plays a crucial role in improving glucose regulation, reducing the risk of complications, and enhancing overall quality of life for people living with diabetes. Physical activity can help individuals better manage blood glucose levels, reduce the risk of both hyperglycaemia and hypoglycaemia, and support effective long-term disease management when combined with appropriate monitoring and treatment strategies. Encouraging active lifestyles and improving access to sport and physical activity programmes are therefore critical components of effective diabetes prevention and care.

We wish to thank MEP Arimont for his support and look forward to working closely together to promote the role of sport and physical activity in diabetes prevention and management, while contributing to healthier lifestyles and improved health outcomes across the European Union.
