MEP Alessandra Moretti (S&D, Italy) serves as Vice-Chair of the Delegation to the EU-Serbia Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee (D-RS) and is also Vice-Chair of the Delegation for relations with Afghanistan (D-AF). She is a member of the Committee on the Environment, Climate and Food Safety (ENVI), the Committee on Public Health (SANT), the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM), and is also a member of the Delegation for relations with Iran (D-IR). She is also a substitute member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET).

Before being elected to the European Parliament, MEP Moretti was a member of the Italian parliament from 2013 to 2014 and a regional councillor for the Veneto region from 2015 to 2019. She also worked as a city councillor of Vicenza from 2009 to 2013.

One of MEP Moretti’s core priorities is to combat social inequalities, including health inequalities between men and women such as the disparity between the diagnosis each gender receive. Women are diagnosed with diabetes on average 4.5 years later than men, while also being more vulnerable to all-cause mortality when living with the disease.
