The MMD Group welcomes MEP Estelle Ceulemans (S&D, Belgium)
10 February 2026
The MMD Group is delighted to welcome Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Estelle Ceulemans (S&D, Belgium) as a new member. MEP Ceulemans serves as a Member of the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL), the Delegation to the OACPS-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly (DACP) and the Delegation to the Africa-EU Parliamentary Assembly (DAFR). She is a Substitute Member of the Committee on the Environment, Climate and Food Safety (ENVI), the Committee on Public Health (SANT) and the Delegation for relations with the countries of South Asia (DSAS).
Before her election to the European Parliament in June 2024, MEP Ceulemans built a strong career in social and employment policy. She combined academic work at the Université Libre de Bruxelles with senior roles within ministerial cabinets, as well as leadership positions at the Fédération Générale du Travail de Belgique (FGTB). She also contributed to numerous boards and councils focused on social security, labour and public administration, demonstrating her long-standing commitment to improving social protection and workers’ rights.
In the European Parliament, MEP Ceulemans serves as rapporteur for the EMPL Committee’s own-initiative report on psychosocial risks at work, a role that reflects her expertise and dedication to promoting safe, inclusive and fair employment conditions. Her work highlights the importance of addressing the mental and social dimensions of employment, ensuring that workplaces are not only productive but also supportive of all employees.
Living with a chronic condition such as diabetes requires constant management, including in professional settings. People living with diabetes must balance medical needs, dietary requirements and glucose monitoring alongside their professional responsibilities, often under significant stress and, in some case, also while facing stigma and discrimination Flexible, inclusive and supportive workplace environments are therefore essential to allow employees with chronic conditions to maintain their health, perform effectively and fully participate in the workforce without fear of stigma or discrimination. Implementing such measures not only protects the rights and well-being of those affected but also strengthens workplaces by fostering equity, understanding and overall productivity. Through her advocacy, MEP Ceulemans champions policies that ensure workplaces across Europe are safe, adaptable and inclusive, ultimately promoting a culture where all employees, regardless of chronic conditions, can thrive and contribute fully.
We wish to warmly thank MEP Ceulemans for joining the MMD Group and for her commitment to advancing the rights and wellbeing of people living with diabetes. Her expertise, dedication and active engagement will be invaluable as we continue to work together to improve policies, raise awareness and ensure that people living with chronic conditions have the support they need to live full, productive and healthy lives.
